Archives taking flight...

Posted: Wednesday, 17th February 2010

Hi All,

I thought I'd just let you know about how we have been using the AAC theme "Take Flight" at the archives here at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Taking flight isn't an obvious theme for our archives, but we have worked with it and come up with something!

As we are currently moving our archival collections into a new store, we have not been able to hold an AAC open day etc, but instead our Archives Graduate Trainee has written an article for the RBG Kew LAA blog and for our staff magazine: see here. In the article, she delves into the world of insect life in Kew's archives, looking at Colonel Hall's illustrations of butterflies, Joseph Hookers' work on insectivorous plants and the Garden's Management Plan of Butterflies from 1906!

Please do read our blog entry and I hope it inspires you to get involved with AAC.

With best wishes,

Kiri
