Quills to keyboards: the changing face of record-keeping from Alfred the Great to the present day
2nd of February, 2008 - 30th of April, 2008
This exhibition explores the ways Hampshire people have recorded events unfolding around them over the centuries since Alfred the Great's day. Illustrated by a selection of Hampshire’s archives, the display traces the changing formats of record-keeping, from parchment rolls to databases, the development of handwriting, and the ways in which some of Hampshire's most interesting records have had a narrow escape from mice, skips or bonfires.
