WEDDING BELLS: Annie Brophy’s Wedding Photographs, 1920s-1970s
29th of August, 2008 - 4th of October, 2008
EXTENDED TO SATURDAY 4th OCTOBER Annie Brophy photographed the people of Waterford and the surrounding counties for over half of the 20th century. Annie was truly a photographic artist and all her photographs are wonderfully posed, composed and produced. They still take pride of place in many homes not just in Waterford but throughout the South-East and further afield. In 2005 Waterford City Council purchased her life’s work-over 60,000 negatives-for permanent preservation in Waterford City Archives as a fitting tribute to a wonderful photographer. The fifth exhibition from this wonderful collection concentrates on Annie’s wedding photography and covers the entire length of her long and productive career between the 1920s and the 1970s. Wherever possible the people in the photographs will be identified. So do come along to see these faces from the past on one of the most important days of their lives. You’d never know who you might recognise!
Open: Monday-Friday 10.00-18.00, Saturday, 10.00-16.00
